CAS(E) this Sketch 125...Happy Birthday

The moment I saw this week's sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch, I KNEW what I wanted to do (I had just pulled these dies out a couple days ago!)!  A pretty literal interpretation, but what fun!!  Here's my card and the sketch...

I changed the directions of the top arrows, but pretty much used the sketch as is!   I found some arrow patterned paper and turned it to face the direction of each set of arrows.  I die cut the arrows (really chevrons...Chevron Bits by Avery Elle) by positioning and adhering thin paper die cuts of the arrows, THEN die cutting to guarantee perfect placement (or as perfect as you see it:)!).  The sentiments are from a new to me set of sentiments from Altenew (what wonderful stamps!!).  The "HAPPY" was an outlined stamp, I colored with black marker and glossy accented over the word after coloring for some added dimension.  Used pop up squares to give the panels lift.  Here's a close up of all of it:)...

Geometric Thanks

I used the Geometric Background and Fancy Words dies by Reverse Confetti to make a card!  I thought...hmm...how could I use this background die a little differently?  I had made a card with it HERE.   On today's card, I cut and framed the die cut background and used it's shape for the card...
I adhered, then hand cut the white paper behind the framed background.  Then, I trimmed an A2 sized card down by 3/4" on 2 sides and adhered THAT to the back of the die cut panel...
I LOVED these 3 shades of blue(bazzill paper from Michael's) with the black sentiment...had SO much fun making this!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Jumbled Birthday Dots

A simple, quick card, but I thought it was fun...kinda rainbowish...and it made me happy!!  I made it with a Quick Card Panel from Reverse Confetti (LOVE these panels, cool designs and thick card stock...they DO make a quick card!!) and the Jumbled Birthday die by Poppy Stamps...
I added a few enamel dots...not for affect as much as a cover up of an indentation...the other two made it work:)!!  Ok..thanks for visiting!! Hugs!! Lisa

CAS(E) this Sketch 124...Love You

I can't escape rainbows...I make no excuses...I love them...they make me happy!!  I had the thought to simply use 3 thin stitched strips, but my card for CAS(E) this Sketch 124 kind of evolved to include a thick middle strip filled with a rainbow of hearts...

I tried and tried to put a sentiment (MANY sentiments) over the strips...just couldn't make it look right, but that bottom corner looked just right to me with a little Simon Says Stamp sentiment:)!

I made this as I usually do...by die cutting 7 hearts in thin card stock, positioning and lightly adhering to the wide strip, and THEN die cutting each heart.

I then turned it over, put pop up squares and 1/2 squares up and down the strip, using them to give lift to the panel and also to adhere the little pieces of rainbow colored card stock I put behind each heart window.  You notice there is print on my paper...it's a piece of scrap, so it was "used" on the back...It's RARE when I use an "unused" piece of cardstock for anything but an actual card. I cut all the tops and bottoms of the strips at an angle, too.  Here's the back...
Ok...I had so much fun making this card!!  Although on both my entries for this challenge, I used "creative license" in interpreting the sketch, I had so much fun with #124:)!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Thank you, Teacher

I have my last required substitute teaching day today, it's hard to commit to more than the required in this season...but it is a joy and privilege to stand in for teachers!  I made a thank you teacher card...
I layered and glossy accented the "teacher" die, and stamped the background through a torn piece of copy paper.
Hope, for those of you in these here United States, that yesterday was a peaceful and restful day.  It was my first born's birthday...love you, Hannah, and her sister was in Nashville, having surprised her to celebrate her day (for a week and a half ), so our house was quiet!  Hung my new flag...
Definitely a day of reflection and remembrance...

H A P P Y Birthday

On the way to a challenge, one of the dies in a My Favorite Things set just shouted, louder than the challenge I was attempting, to make a birthday card first (I am still trying to get to the challenge card!)!...
I loved this five rectangle framed strip.  The last time I used it, I made a basket with this same frame and put a whole bunch of suns in it:)...HERE!  I thought...5 spaces...just big enough for letters, maybe?...AND... a RAINBOW...YAY!!!!  Well, it took a lot of looking, but I finally found some My Favorite Things sentiment dies with the right sized letters to fit the rectangles, and used the "HAPPY" one cutting the bottom line off of each letter.  Layered each letter and the frame, and added 1/2 of a sentiment from Hero Arts.  Here's a close up...
I did consider embossing or stamping a background, but just liked it plain...YOU can dress it up, if you so choose:)!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

CAS(E) this Sketch 124...Hello

The sketch this week at CAS(E) this Sketch was a bit challenging for me.  Those three slanted lines were hard to interpret.  As I was looking at the possibility of three skinny trees, I found a very old flower in a vase stamp in my drawer (Bloom Vase by Stampendous...press on colored title to take you to ebay, in case you were wondering)  that, although a bit of a stretch in design and content, I thought was cute!!  Here's my card and the sketch...

I flipped my card sideways, making my strips a bit wider.  What I LOVED about this stamp...the flowers are leaning at an angle...in the same direction as the sketch:):)!!!  I stamped and cut out the flowers in their frames, then separate flowers and one set of leaves(the flower without the sentiment across it) and because I messed up on the coloring, stamped and cut out the vases! Colored with my Prismacolor pencils...YES, I could have made the flowers and vases funky, fun colors, but I love black and white polka dots(especially with yellow flowers), and in THIS case...thought less is more:)!!...so... simply and rather basically colored.  Dotted the dots in the flowers with Enamel Accents, the sentiment die is from Reverse Confetti!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Thank you so much ladies at CAS(E) this Sketch for naming my card as one of this week's FAVORITES...
I am so appreciative for the recognition!!  Congratulations to all the winners this week...what fun:)!!
